It’s only with your support that we can provide access to abortion for people facing barriers to care and deliver programs which prevent these barriers in the future. 

Why your support matters

Despite common belief, accessing abortion in Canada is still complicated, expensive and incredibly challenging for many people. A number of factors can impact whether or not a person can access abortion and dictate the additional costs associated with this care. For example, a lack of services in a person’s own community can mean significant travel costs, lost wages, child-minding expenses and more. Individuals experiencing intimate-partner violence may need additional counseling, safety planning and logistics support. People with layered health concerns may have to leave their community for care even if they otherwise qualify.  Additionally, not all people are covered by provincial and territorial insurance plans, resulting in expenses for the care itself.

Your donation can:

  • Provide critical financial assistance through our Dr. Henry Morgentaler Patient Assistance Fund so that pregnant people not covered by the provincial/territorial health care system can obtain the abortion care they need; and
  • Assist pregnant people with expenses which would otherwise prohibit them from accessing care such as travel expenses
  • Help Abortion Care Canada to provide case management, short-term counselling and support for those seeking abortion services
  • Educate and train health care professionals in providing safe, high-quality abortion care; adding new access points for abortion across the country
  • Support work to end stigma related to abortion and increase community knowledge of abortion care
